Hali’imaile General Store, Maui, Hawaii
I’m just going to say it: Hali’imaile General Store is my favorite restaurant. Not just on Maui, not just in Hawaii, but anywhere. Bold statement, I know, especially when fan favorites like Mama’s Fish House are so good and so popular, but HGS has my heart. And here’s why. Pull up a chair and order a cocktail. HGS has a solid list of handcrafted cocktails that feature local ingredients and Hawaiian flavors. Their beer list includes local favorites from Kona Brewing and Honolulu Beerworks. So pour yourself a mai tai and read on as I share a 3-day itinerary that highlights the best things to do on Maui, along with where to stay on Maui and logistics like how to…

How to Help Lāhaina, Maui
Hawaii, and Maui in particular, is very near and dear to my heart. I’ve traveled there half a dozen times for work and for pleasure. For the past week, I’ve been glued to the news about the Maui fires and I wanted to share some resources should you wish to donate. To donate to individual families, which is preferred because it provides immediate access to funds to meet their needs, head over to @lahaina_ohana_venmo on Instagram. If you’re an animal lover like me, the Maui Humane Society is a good option. And to follow news and information follow Kāko’o Haleakalā on Instagram. More Maui
