For two decades Surfing Goat Dairy has flourished with a herd of over 100 goats, making it Maui’s largest commercial dairy. Located in Upcountry, Surfing Goat Dairy not only raises goats and makes cheese, it also allows guests to get up close and personal with the herd and the milking and making processes.

Casual tours of the farm where you can spend 30 minutes learning about the milking and cheese-making process while snapping some goat selfies. And trust me, your camera roll will be full of fun shots of these cuties!

Play with Kids

Kid goats, that is! Surfing Goat Dairy’s 30-minute Kid Goat Interaction, suitable for ages 8 and up, allows you to play with (or simply cuddle) the dairy’s newest kids while learning about the needs of baby goats. Children $20, Adults (12+) $25. Reservations required.

Or, for a few dollars more, take a private tour and bottle-feed a baby goat with the dairy’s Kid Feeding Experience. Children $35, Adults (12+) $40. Reservations required.

Discover the Best Things to do in Hawaii

From the Big Island to Kauai and everywhere in between, plan your perfect trip!

If you really want to earn your cheese, consider the Evening Chores tour where you can learn hands-on milking and help dairy staff with the evening feedings. Wear your “I milked a goat today” ribbon with pride as you stop by the shop to pick up a cheese flight for your evening feeding. Children (3-11) $29, Adults (12+) $34. Reservations required.

Enjoy Surfing Goat Dairy cheese at many local restaurants and hotels like Hula Grill, Leilanis, Paia Flatbread, Dukes, the Grand Wailea, and the Four Seasons. You can also find it for purchase at local grocery stores including Kahului’s Down to Earth and Okao Market in Up Country. I’m a big fan of the local flavors of their Lilikoi Quark cheese but my favorite treat is their goat cheese chocolate truffles! Yes, you read that right, and yes, they do ship to the mainland!

If you like it, put a pin on it!
