Comprised of 76 atolls and countless coral reefs, the Tuamotu archipelago is home to stunning water, picture-perfect beaches, and perhaps most important, overwater bungalows.

The Rangiroa atoll, the largest atoll in the archipelago, is home to Hotel Kia Ora Resort & Spa. The resort has 58 bungalows, including a mix of beach and overwater bungalows. Overwater bungalows are air conditioned, have WiFi, a terrace over the water with direct lagoon access, windows in the floor, and sliding glass doors to bring the outside in.

Meals are served at the Te Rairoa Restaurant and there’s a twice-weekly Polynesian buffet and dance show. Enjoy drinks at Miki Miki, an overwater bar, or book a private candlelight dinner facing the magnificent lagoon.

After a day of snorkeling or diving with The Blue Velvet Diving Center, enjoy a treatment at the Poekura Spa (its name means “Pearl of Light” in Tahitian)

The Tikehau Atoll is home to Le Tikehau by Pearl Resorts. The property, nestled among wild coconut palms, is undergoing a refresh and is set to reopen in October 2024.

Located on Motu Tiano, the resort is a 10-minute boat ride from the main village of Tuherahera. There are several categories of overwater bungalows and all have air conditioning, a complimentary minibar, and a private terrace with sun chairs. Only the overwater suites have direct lagoon access.

Dining is available at Poreho restaurant, which features a blend of European and Polynesian cuisine. In-room dining, including an outrigger canoe breakfast, is available. Cocktails are available at the Tianoa bar.
