After the resort’s destruction by Hurricane Irma in 2017, Bitter End Yacht Club reopened in 2021 bringing with it the first overwater bungalows in the British Virgin Islands.

Highlights

Located on 64 acres on a North Eastern point in Virgin Gorda, only accessible by boat, the family-friendly Bitter End Yacht Club has a storied history dating back to 1969. This little-known sailing outpost gained a word-of-mouth reputation in the 1970s and in the years since has become a hugely popular destination in the boating community.

Rebuilt from the ground up following the destruction of Hurricane Irma in 2017, the resort reopened in 2021 bringing the first (and only) overwater bungalows to the British Virgin Islands.

The Marina Lofts overwater bungalows are two-story bungalows that include a daybed on the first floor and a second-floor primary suite with a king bed and bath. Both floors have private terraces with hammocks and expansive North Sound views. Nautically inspired, the lofts are made with sustainable, organic materials.

The rebuilt resort features a number of public spaces from the Quarterdeck Marina, which is a two-story open-air venue with an ocean-facing lounge, the Reeftique Boutique, a watersports center, and the Bitter End Market for provisions.

Start your day with a swim in the Caribbean Sea directly from the porch of your Marina Loft, then play with the resort’s many water toys including stand-up paddleboards, kiteboards, and sailboats (lessons are available). Before dinner, watch the sun slip below the horizon at the one-of-a-kind beach bar, Reef Sampler, made from a sunken vessel salvaged from Irma.

If you’re a sailor at heart, the resort has 70 mooring balls and 25 marina slips available for yacht charters and non-hotel guests.
