Built in 2017, Four Points by Sheraton Nairobi Airport is conveniently located just one kilometer from Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (NBO), 20 minutes from Wilson Airport (WIL), and four kilometers from the Syokimau Railway Station, making it an incredibly conveniently located hotel.
When my flight to Nairobi was scheduled to arrive late in the evening, I needed a convenient airport hotel to spend one night before my stay at Giraffe Manor. I’m a Marriott girl at heart so I was thrilled to see that Four Points by Sheraton Nairobi Airport was minutes from Jomo Kenyatta International Airport!
Once my flight arrived, I collected my bags and got through customs and immigration, I headed outside to find the complimentary airport shuttle offered by Four Points by Sheraton Nairobi Airport. If you’ve ever landed at NBO, you know that just outside the airport are probably a hundred people holding pickup signs for various hotels and safaris, and taxi drivers looking for fares, so it took me a few minutes to find the shuttle driver. Once I did, I was escorted to the shuttle and we immediately headed to the hotel.
In a few short minutes, we pulled up to the hotel’s security gate. The shuttle was checked by security, complete with a sniffer dog, and then we pulled up to the entrance. Just outside the entrance, bags were put through a scanner, much like the one you go through upon exiting the airport in Nairobi. Once that was complete, my luggage and we were whisked inside to check in.
I was warmly greeted at the front desk with “Jambo”, and the staff speak both English and Swahili. Check in was quick and easy and along with my key, I was given an overview of the hotel, including what restaurants were currently open and for how long in case I wanted to enjoy a later dinner.
I was shown to my room and from the time the shuttle pulled up to the security gate until I was in my room was less than 10 minutes.
My room room clean and well-appointed. I was grateful for the air conditioning and the room had a refrigerator, 42″ television, internet access, a delightful rain shower in the bathroom, and fee-based mini bar as well as complimentary basic toiletries.
After 20-ish hours in transit, I was hungry, but not in the mood to deal with people, so I ordered room service. I ordered channa masala and a soda, which was delivered in less than 30 minutes. It was hot and delicious and just what I needed!
