One of the most remote island groups in the world and among the largest in French Polynesia, the Marquesas Islands (Îles Marquises or Archipel des Marquises or Marquises) is comprised of 15 islands in two island groups. The northern island group, Te Henua ʻEnana (North Marquesan), consists of Eiao, Hatutu (Hatutaa), Motu One, Nuku Hiva, Motu Iti (Hatu Iti), Ua Pou, Motu Oa, and Ua Huka. The southern island group, Te Fenua ʻEnata (South Marquesan), consists of Fatu Uku, Tahuata, Moho Tani (Motane), Terihi, Fatu Hiva, and Motu Nao (Thomasset Rock), and Hiva ʻOa.
