Do you need a Kenya visa for your upcoming trip? Whether you’re going on a safari or to Giraffe Manor, it’s important to research in advance of your trip whether or not you’re required to obtain a visa.

On January 2, 2024 the government of Kenya implemented an Electronic Travel Authorization (eTA) system in Kenya. As of January 5, 2024, all travelers to Kenya (with limited exceptions) will be required to apply for and pay for an eTA.

Kenya Entry Requirements

To visit Kenya, your passport must be valid for at least six months from your date of entry and you must have at least one full blank page in your passport. You will also need a recent passport-size photo of yourself. If you are traveling for tourism, you will need to provide a copy of your itinerary and hotel bookings. All of this information will be necessary to complete your eTA application.

Apply for your eTA Online

You can apply for your eTA to visit Kenya at the new online portal. You will need to create an account, fill out the application form, and pay the fee using a credit card.

Once your eTA is approved, you will be notified via the email address you provided. eTAs are valid for 90 days from the date of issuance.

How long does it take to get a Kenya eTA?

Applications are typically processed in three business days, but it is recommended to apply at least two weeks before travel. Applications can be submitted up to 90 days in advance of your travel.
